I absolutely love the simple, peaceful, laid-back life in Maui. Enjoying the beautiful views of the ocean right in front of our condo, soaking up the sunshine, driving through Maui with breathtaking scenery, amazing hikes, and a casual stroll to the farmer’s market. Definitely makes me want to take more advantage of everything that there is to offer at home.
We decided to take a trip to the local farmer’s market, and this was seriously fruit heaven. So many fresh pineapples (Maui pineapples are the best), papayas, oranges, avocados, coconuts, and lots of lots of fresh vegetables and homemade organic items.
Even the vegetables are beautiful.
A lot of local farmers bring their own homegrown produce to sell, and having the chance to visit a local organic farm was such a cool experience.
My favorite section! They had a whole row of sauces, dips, hummus, and salsas that were all freshly made. The guy selling all of these homemade sauces was also SUPER friendly and offer us a variety of deliciousness-guacamole, tapioca coconut pudding, hummus, salsa, and pesto. Delicious and paired excellent with chips and pita bread! He even gave us a slice of his homemade banana bread (absolutely divine) and a bite of a coconut macaroon that was quite possibly the best I’ve ever had.
Fresh and fragrant macadamia nut pesto. I could probably stay at this stand for hours.
And the section of homemade jams! Guava and pineapple jams seem to be the most popular.
And an assortment of exotic flowers. We were actually able to find a variety of foods that were much cheaper at the farmer’s market, because we had visited a local grocery store the day before and many of the fruits and snacks we ended up buying were pretty price-y.
We actually have a farmer’s market that comes to our campus every week and several more farmer’s market throughout San Diego that I still have yet to visit. Traveling always inspires me to go out and explore, even if it’s just within my local area. There are definitely so many places that I still have yet to see!
