So there’s this thing in the San Diego area called the Secret Cookie Service. You order cookies from their Facebook page, and moments later, secret agents show up at your door and deliver you a bag of cookies. It’s great. I remember sitting in the common lounge of our suite last year with a couple of friends, eagerly awaiting the arrival of these “secret agents” and screaming in joy when they knocked on our door as if they had some important business. Well, I guess cookies are pretty important business.
One of the cookies I never knew existed before Secret Cookie Service were these Cookies ‘n Cream cookies–crushed Oreo cookies inside a cookie? It’s like cookie inception.
Unfortunate update: I believe the Secret Cookie Service is no longer in business, but fortunately there’s this recipe if you want to recreate the cookies ‘n cream cookie!
- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 15 Oreo cookies, crushed
Cream butter and sugar together in bowl.
Beat in egg and vanilla.
Mix flour, baking soda and baking powder in separate bowl.
Slowly add flour mixture to wet ingredients.
Add in crushed Oreos.
Drop spoonfuls of dough onto ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake at 350 °F for 10-12 minutes or until edges are golden brown.
Crush it all up!
One day I will invest in a standing mixer. As for now, me and my trusty old hand mixer are quite good pals.
Why hello, you beautiful dough.
Want to take these to the new level? Go make yourself a cookie sandwich. I made these for some friends that came to visit later at night, and we decided to make our own ice cream sandwiches! Definite crowd-pleaser.
Bon appétit! ♥
