Night life here in Mae Sot has been pretty slow and laid back, which I enjoy. At the same time, I’ve missed going out to roam around night markets and spending time with friends catching up on each other’s day, trying new foods or just going shopping. Just simple things about night life in the city that I miss.
Our Doi Inthanon group went to Talad Rot Fai night market in Bangkok a couple of weeks ago as recommended to us by Michael and Jess who had both been previously. Surprisingly, I haven’t been getting as much pad thai as I had expected while I’ve been here, so I finally decided to order some shrimp pad thai and papaya salad while we were at dinner. SO GOOD.
Michael staring dreamily at his mango smoothie.
Papaya salad!! Not as good as some of the other ones I’ve tried, but still refreshing as always.
Tents full of clothes and iPhone cases and appliances.
And obviously no night market is complete without delicious street food!
All the fake Adidas you could ever want lined up along the sidewalk. Marisa actually managed to find herself some used Birkenstock for a heavily discounted price, so there are some good finds!
Spent an excessive amount of time looking at all the little charms and obsessing over how cute and funky the designs were.
Marisa’s a cuuuutieeee-
Michael’s candid GQ magazine cover. Out in stores in August.
I’ve had quite the memories with this bunch.
There’s also a section of Talad Rot Fai that’s more antique themed.
Lots of antique shops, with old-fashioned denim jackets, plates and artwork.
We ended our night off at this bar with some drinks and live music!
New friend sitting near us that got us all pumped out over his cover of “MAI PEN RAAAAIII” (new life motto when things get rough)
Cutest quail eggs!!
The crepes here are amazing and so cheap.
The only way to top off a lovely night is to treat yourself to a banana nutella crepe!
Good night world!
