Oh, the beautiful and grand Niagara Falls. Nothing compares to seeing it in person, listening to the roar of the huge rapids and feeling the mist against your face. Or even better, being able to stand right next to the rapids and experience the falls from an entirely new standpoint.
Here is the famous Horseshoe Falls, and it was probably the most breathtaking view of our entire Canada trip.
Wispy, wispy waterfall!! (Got really excited while snapping these photos because I figured out how to adjust the ISO settings and capture the movement of the water to make it look more silky.)
A Maid of the Mist boat ride will take you up close to the base of the falls, where you’ll get soaked (they’ll hand you ponchos for some protection).
We had the chance to do the Cave of the Winds tour, where you get to walk right beside the Bridal Veil Falls and just think mega splash zone. I mean, it’s basically pouring-and you have just your poncho to save you from getting soaked (no quality pictures because nothing I had was waterproof and I didn’t want to risk any water damage to my cameras). If you do the tour, you’ll also get some pretty cool (and dorky) sandals.
There’s also a nice walkway that leads to a beautiful viewpoint, right above the American Falls/Bridal Falls area.
The bridge connecting the Canada side to the US side of the falls. You can also see American Falls and the Bridal Veil Falls (the smaller one).
LOOOVING the wispiness!!
Niagara Falls is a lot different at night, with a light show that they hold every night that we didn’t want to miss. We decided to walk around the local area to scout out a delicious Italian place for dinner, and then walking around town.
Dippin Dots for dessert? Sounds like a plan.
And…a very proud photography moment for myself-capturing the falls at night, where American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls are lit up by vibrant, colorful lights. I didn’t have a tripod, so I had to rely on an extremely still hand resting against a wall, and staying completely still for at least 30 seconds to get enough exposure. JUST LOOK HOW BEAUTIFUL!!
There is nothing like Niagara Falls and it is truly an amazing sight to be able to see and I honestly feel really lucky to be able to travel to so many different places and see things like this that just take your breath away. I actually read an article recently that talked about how Niagara Falls is actually going to go dry and my heart sank a little (so if you want to see Niagara Falls-go go go!!). Anyways, this was one of the highlights of our Canada trip. If you’d like, see more of our Canada trip here!
