OH MY GOODNESS. This dish is probably one of my proudest meals I’ve made out of all the food I’ve made so far in college. In fact, I think this is one of the best meals I’ve ever made in my entire life. I’m a HUGE fan of mochi, whether it’s mochi ice cream, mochi inside bread, mochi toppings…and what better way to satisfy my mochi craving than to have mochi pizza?? My roommate stumbled across this recipe during one of our daily web searches for new recipes, and I thought it was the best thing ever so of course we had to give it a try. No regrets, whatsoever. It was that amazing.
- 2-3 mochi blocks
- Pizza sauce (tomato sauce, pesto sauce, BBQ sauce-your choice!)
Heat oil over medium heat in skillet.
Place mochi blocks on skillet, cover for a few minutes and cook until mochi is softened.
Press down on mochi with spatula until mochi blocks are melted and connected into single mochi base.
Flip mochi over with spatula and cook other side until golden brown.
Remove from heat and add pizza sauce.
Place in oven at 400 °F for 5-10 minutes, or until cheese is fully melted. If necessary, broil for 1 minute.
Our choice of toppings included bell peppers, tofurkey sausage, onions, mushrooms, green onions, garlic and tomatoes. There are so many other variations you can add to this, so feel free to go crazy with your choice of toppings!
This beautiful baby is ready to go in the oven!
Oh man…my mouth is watering again just looking at this picture. The texture of the mochi crust is so amazing-it’s crispy towards the edges, but it has a soft, chewy texture towards the center of the pizza and it’s a bit sticky, but if you’re a mochi lover, this mochi pizza hits the spot.
How’s this for trying new things, huh? Not bad, right? I love this unique variation of pizza, and you could customize this to fit your own tastes.
Well, what are you waiting for? Bon appétit! ♥
