My first time trying kale was actually the beginning of this year in college. I think kale has became huge since the discussion of superfoods, since I know that kale has a ton of health benefits. Frankly, I don’t really like the taste of kale all that much, but I’ll still eat it. Sometimes it just has that bitter taste when you eat it raw and it doesn’t taste all that great when you want to enjoy a salad or a smoothie. My first time making a smoothie with kale and letting it sit in the fridge for more than a couple of hours was not a good experience because I remember the bitterness from the kale leaking into my smoothie and overpowering the taste of everything else that I had put in the smoothie.
So anyways, the recipe below is for kale chips, which I was also recently exposed to. Olive oil is basically a staple in one of my roommates’s diet, and she also loves kale- this recipe happens to combine both of them. This is SUPER easy, and it’s the healthiest “chip” you’ll probably eat. So on those days where all you can think about are a big bag of potato chips, fries, and some pizza…reach for this instead. Your body will thank you later.
- 1 head kale
- 2 tbsp olive oil
Season kale with olive oil and salt.
Mix and spread on baking sheet.
Bake at 350 °F for 10-15 minutes, flipping halfway in between.
Chop those leafy greens up! Just sprinkle it with olive oil and salt.
And voilà! A crunchy little kale chip.
Bon appétit! ♥
