Italian food=delicious carbs galore. The best pizzas, pastas, gnocchi, you name it. Buona Forchetta is located in downtown San Diego and is one of the best places I’ve tried so far in Little Italy.
We came here a couple of months ago to celebrate my roommate’s birthday, and she’s in love with this place, so choosing this restaurant was a no-brainer. Outdoor seating is gorgeous.
Stephanie ordered pizelle, which is deep fried pizza with marinara and lots of fresh parmesan.
Alex ordered the classic Margherita pizza with fresh mozzarella and basil. All of the pizzas here are made in a special gold-colored oven named Sofia, and she’s basically the star of the show.
Dipika ordered her pizza with lots of olives (and also threatened to start eating the pizza before I could take a picture, hahah.) She’s a true pizza fanatic, and it’s usually expected to find her leftover box of Blaze pizza somewhere in the kitchen every 2 weeks or so. If you ever get the chance to go out to pizza with her, she’ll probably tell you all about VPN.
I went for the salmone insalate, which comes with arugula, smoked salmon, capers and artichokes. A light dressing and the saltiness of the salmon paired well together. The last time I came here to Buona Forchetta I ordered their gnocchi with homemade pesto, and it was the perfect homemade texture, and the sauce was not too salty, but strong in its flavor.
Birthday girl Stephanie (the one who loves orchids) had prosciutto on her pizza. I love this roomie love.
All the friends, all the carbs, all the goodness.
Happy birthday Stephanie!!! Love you forever and ever. Best of roomies/friends since day 1 and one of the biggest blessings in my life since coming to college. (P.S. Congratulations to Austin, her boyfriend on the left, who just took his MCAT yesterday!! OMG.) I’ve been blessed with the best roommates since coming to college and I wouldn’t have traded it for the world ♥
